Junior Olympic Archery Development
JOAD is a nationwide program where certified coaches provide instruction for youth archers to help them progress in the sport at their own pace. If you are new to archery and are looking for an introductory program, JOAD has what you need to get started! You'll learn important skills, play exciting games, and earn awards for developing fundamental skills and scoring achievements. JOAD clubs offer training and event preparation for all archery disciplines, and we have rental equipment available, so you can try archery before investing in equipment.
Classes at East Coast Archery meet Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings as well as Saturday mornings. Membership with the JOAD program includes free range use for practice during the membership period at any time while the shop is open. Membership also includes expert advice from our knowledgeable staff.
Feel free to download and print the registration form here.
To be a JOAD member you also must be a USA Archery member. You can find that information here.
We encourage our members to participate in local, regional, and national tournaments to test themselves and show what they have learned. There is a comprehensive list at State Archery Association of Massachusetts, or SAAM for short. They have a calendar of events with links to registration forms and such.
East Coast Archery’s Junior Olympic Archery Development program instructors are USA Archery certified and insured. We hold our classes indoors on-site year-round. We are structured on a nine-week cycle. Eight weeks of instruction and one week for the shoot for score.
Archers learn proper form, range safety and how to shoot. At the end of each session, we facilitate a shoot for score, where students get to earn pins that show their skill level.
